Keeping the Lights On!
Western Pennsylvania has always been a focal point for energy in the country. Whether it be the coal mines that were dug out as the region was being settled in the early 1800s to the latest fracking boom in the late 2000s, Western PA has always been the model for energy production. The legacy of that industry has left long-lasting effects being felt today. And looking forward to cutting-edge technologies coming out of places like Carnegie Mellon University and Pitt, Western PA, will remain a source and a model for the country's energy needs.
